British gas prices advanced on Friday as new forecasts suggested a 0–2°C dip
below average temperatures across Europe by year-end and EU gas storage
running 10 points below the five-year average at 71%, adding caution ahead of
potential cold spells. As a result, the British spot gas price soared by 2.8% to
70.70 p/therm. On the forward curve, the Summer 2026 delivery contract
surged by over 3%, settling at 65.22 p/therm.
